This article addresses the juvenile justice system in Australia and outlying regions. Because a large portion of Australia and New Zealand’s populations are made up of youth, a bigger focus on youth justice should be taken. New Zealand’s Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act 1989 included measures “designed to strengthen families and foster their own means of dealing with their offending young.â€? Programs such as family group conferencing have helped in this way and have already found great success in New Zealand as of late.
