As indicated by the title, this document consists of a position paper on restorative justice for the Chief Probation Officers of California. The paper begins with a succinct introduction to the concept of restorative justice. This expands in the next section of the document to a list of key principles of restorative justice theory and processes. After identification of a number of programs that are or tend to be restorative, the mission and goals of the Chief Probation Officers of California are listed and placed within a restorative justice system.
