The Victim Offender Conferencing project was a pilot project that sought to build on restorative justice experiences described above. It was conceived as a community based restorative justice means for dealing with crime through a face-to- face mediated interaction between offenders and victims, and their families or members of other support networks. It aimed to formulate a restorative model more familiar to African customary values. It also aimed to empower the communities to work in partnership with the formal criminal justice system. (excerpt)
Your donation helps Prison Fellowship International repair the harm caused by crime by emphasizing accountability, forgiveness, and making amends for prisoners and those affected by their actions. When victims, offenders, and community members meet to decide how to do that, the results are transformational.
