This article recounts the experience of Constable Adrian Kerin of Auckland, New Zealand, in attending a restorative justice conference. The court-referred conference brought together two parties involved in an accident in which a car, driven negligently, struck a bicycle, thus injuring the cyclist. Kerin relates key elements of the conference process involving the driver (the offender) and the cyclist (the victim), as well as the benefits of this approach that he discovered through his attendance at the conference.
