In this essay, Hal Nees asserts that evaluation of restorative justice programs is critical for several reasons. Hence, he lists various reasons that establish the value of evaluation. Evaluation allows a successful program to demonstrate that it is providing a valuable service to the community. It provides information that makes it possible to adjust and improve a program. Evaluation enables funding organizations to determine whether they will support a project. With these benefits in view, he provides an overview of concepts pertaining to program evaluation.
