The Student Conflict Hearing Board consists of a group of students at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado. This group promotes conflict resolution by incorporating principles of restorative justice in their school community. The Board grew out of student dissatisfaction with the way the school’s administration handled conflict. In particular, students felt that victims of wrongdoing in the school were left out of disciplinary processes and were thus poorly served by those processes. This article describes the origin, functioning, and aims of the Student Conflict Hearing Board.
