Thokoza is a place deeply scarred by a past of intense political violence and crime. As a way of peacemaking and reconciliation, the Gauteng Council of Churches established a peace centre at Kwa Thema. Since its inception in 1995, this peace centre has done much to help the victims of violence and to resolve deep- seated conflicts in the area.
