Aba Gayle Blount had a daughter who was murdered. In this short essay she describes how she learned of this devastating event and its aftermath in her life. She recounts her interaction with the criminal justice system, the lack of help from the criminal justice system in dealing with her feelings about the murder, her long emotional and spiritual journey amidst this trauma, her eventual commitment to forgiving the murderer, and her dedication to seek the abolition of the death penalty.
