Dale Dione/Karonhiahente is a member of one of the groups that make up the Kahnawake Mohawk community in Quebec, Canada. Dione/Karonhiahente is also trained to facilitate restorative justice processes. This article sketches the origin of this alternative approach to dispute resolution among the Kahnawake Mohawk people, restorative justice in relation to conventional Western justice in Canada, restorative justice and traditional Native values, and the gist of a restorative process.
