Community Legal Education Ontario, founded in 1974, is a community legal clinic in Ontario, Canada, that specializes in public legal education. One of its chief aims is to produce clear language materials on a variety of subjects for people with low incomes. This pamphlet introduces restorative justice as a different way of treating victims of youth crime. The pamphlet covers the following topics: principles of restorative justice; ways to apply restorative justice in a youth justice system; restorative justice as a community-based approach; types of cases that are suitable for restorative justice; restorative justice processes; the role and participation of victims in such processes; accountability for young offenders; what restorative justice offers victims of youth crime; and why a meeting between the victim and the youth offender is called “restorative.”

Your donation helps Prison Fellowship International repair the harm caused by crime by emphasizing accountability, forgiveness, and making amends for prisoners and those affected by their actions. When victims, offenders, and community members meet to decide how to do that, the results are transformational.
