In this speech, I’d like to look forward, to the future of restorative justice, in particular in relation to
sentencing.
The Government’s overarching objectives for the criminal justice system are:
–Access to justice for all – no matter who you are or where you live;
–Improving confidence in the criminal justice system; and
— Ensuring better outcomes for victims and witness.
Restorative justice contributes to most, if not all, of these measures. We are committed to
developing the use of restorative justice in the criminal justice system, based on evidence from the
current programme of pilots.
Your donation helps Prison Fellowship International repair the harm caused by crime by emphasizing accountability, forgiveness, and making amends for prisoners and those affected by their actions. When victims, offenders, and community members meet to decide how to do that, the results are transformational.
