In March 2004 the Adelaide (South Australia) Magistrates Court announced the commencement of an adult restorative justice conferencing pilot project, initially for six months. The model is based on a victim-focused
philosophy, already entrenched in the South Australian juvenile justice system. This paper reports on the
circumstances that led to the pilot and the progress of the pilot. (excerpt)
