At its meeting on 22 February 2005, the Committee resolved to conduct an inquiry into the practice of restorative justice principles in youth settings. Submission were invited from a wide range of stakeholders via letter, and public
notice advertisements appeared in the in The Canberra Times on Saturday 12 March 2005 and in The Chronicle on Tuesday 15 March 2005. Stakeholders were advised that public hearings would be held at a later date. Details of the inquiry were also advertised on the Legislative Assembly website. The interim report outlines the evidence presented to the Committee during the
inquiry and offers some recommendations to initiate a policy evaluation process. (excerpt)
