Plenary 6: Alternatives of Sanctions

This article summarizes the remarks of four presenters on alternate ways to sanction offenders. The first speaker discusses the potential benefits of circle sentencing, the second speaker explores conditional sentencing in Canada, the third speaker stresses some of the obstacles to circle sentencing and also reports on Canada’s new youth justice program, and the fourth speaker illuminates some of the snags of using a restorative model in an international setting.
