Building on the groundwork previously completed by the Chaplaincy and the Aboriginal Affairs Divisions, Jane worked on a vision of integrating Restorative Justice in the CSC. There were many milestones over the years. In 1997, in collaboration with Chaplaincy, the Unit started a demonstration project in Russell Heights. That same year saw the organization of the Achieving Satisfying Justice Conference in Vancouver with Pierre Allard and Jamie Scott. In 1998, senior management approved a Framework Paper on Restorative Justice in CSC. The Framework Paper, authored by the RJ Unit, was to be used by Scott and I to develop RJ within CSC. We were responsible for building networks, exploring opportunities, pulling together community partners, and finding ways to work collaboratively with stakeholders in the field of restorative justice, while executing the Framework’s plan.
