This chapter is concerned with both of these Australian histories of restorative justice and in particular their recent intersection in relation to addressing indigenous offenders in Australia’s criminal justice system. Accordingly, this chapter will explore the following two issues: (1) why conversations about restorative justice have gained limited audience in relation to adult offender populations; and (2) why certain adult offender populations, such as indigenous offenders, appear as exceptions to this rule.
