The use of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) with restorative justice is
an important advancement for the criminal justice field. Together, SFBT and
restorative justice may be viewed as a model of practice aimed at assisting
people who have offended to set goals towards their desired futures while
reconciling with their loved ones. This paper outlines the growth of SFBT in
criminal justice along with some commonalities to restorative justice work.
As an example of this progress, a case illustration is highlighted through the
use of a family conference tool borrowed from child welfare. (authors’ abstract)
