Cllr Stanton added: “Over the past year our schools have implemented
a range of effective measures including learning mentors and learning
support units to tackle exclusions.
“The council also offers training to teachers, for example in peer mentoring and restorative justice.
“Additional support has been provided by behaviour support workers,
and this is tailored to the requirements of the individual schools.
“By working together we anticipate the figures for 2008/09 will show a significant further reduction.”
