Writing after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, Pranis searches for motivations behind the attacks and for appropriate responses to them. She explores the thesis that she heard from another person in a different context, that xe2x80x9cevery attack is a cry for love.xe2x80x9d Citing examples from criminal justice and other situations, she considers the possibility of responding to the terrorist attacks in a restorative love that does not condone the acts but does seek healing in their aftermath.
