A First Time Felony Offender Program Evaluation: Pretrial Diversion Program ,Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Montgomery, Alabama

This study was a program evaluation of an Adlerian based,restorative justice,pretrial diversion program.The researcher examined changes in offenders’ self concepts,dissociations and recidivism rates.Instruments included the Tennessee Self -Concept scale:Second Edition, the Dissociative Experiences Scale,and a questionnaire.A repeated measures multivariate analysis of variance indicated a 35% change, made up of the self-concept subscales: Physical, Moral,Social Academic/Work and Personal,and an overall Dissociation score,occurred in offenders who did not recidivate. Counseling was the element of the program most associated with the changes in self-concept and dissociation.The researcher provides specific information linked with what was of most value and what needed improvement in the program.
