Three new Aboriginal courts are finding innovative solutions for the long-standing problem of achieving justice for Aboriginal Canadians…. In addition to Saskatchewan’s Cree Court, there is a traditional justice initiative at Tsuu T’ina Nation near Calgary, and the Gladue (Aboriginal Persons) Court in Toronto. Each court takes a unique approach, but the goal is universal – to make the judicial system more responsive to the personal and historic circumstances of aboriginal Canadians. (excerpt)
