A Restorative Approach to Postvention.

Following crisis situations, the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training program stresses the importance of Postvention. Postvention is a time to examine the crisis situation with a goal of reducing or preventing future occurrences. It is a time for learning and a time for teaching. When the word “crisis” is substituted for the word “crime” in each of the statements listed above, the power of using restorative principles as a part of the Postvention process becomes evident.
