In this article, John Longhurst outlines restorative justice and reviews perspectives on crime and response to crime among church people, especially in the Mennonite tradition. After introducing the idea of restorative justice and tracing its recent history, he discusses the following topics: our inclination to seek revenge for wrongs committed against us; misunderstandings of what restorative justice is; and our image of God with respect to justice, love, and forgiveness.
