1. This Practice Direction applies both to conferences referred by Tasmania Police, and those
ordered by the Court.
2. When meeting with young offenders prior to a conference, Facilitators are to ascertain
whether the young offender is a member of an Aboriginal community. It is assumed for Youth
Justice purposes, that “member of an Aboriginal community” means the same as “being
Aboriginal.” (excerpt)
