Alberta has over one hundred and twenty sanctioned justice committees; more per capita than any other province or territory in Canada. To a large extent this is due to the incredible support committees receive from the Alberta Government, in particular, the Alberta Young Offenders Branch. It is also a testament to the community way of life in Alberta; Albertans helping Albertans.

Each Justice Committee in Alberta is made up of a team of dedicated volunteers. Restorative Justice (RJ) in Alberta is entrenched within our justice system and, supported by the courts, Crown Prosecutors Office and Defence Counsel. Furthermore, committees represent every geographic and social community in Alberta. (excerpt)
