This essay describes the Community Justice Leadership Project, initiated by the American Probation and Parole Association to develop a vision for the future of community corrections and strategies to implement that vision. Main themes include: a full range of sanctions and services to meet the needs of offenders, support victims, and guard public safety; emphasizing primary prevention initiatives; empowering communities to participate in and own solutions in community corrections; measuring results and providing feedback to improve programming effectiveness; and creating partnerships with stakeholders toward an integrated and unified approach to problem-solving and service delivery.
