In July 2000, in Nairobi, Kenya – under the auspices of students and staff of the Conflict Transformation Program, with assistance from Church World Service, Visual Seventh August, and the Nairobi Council of Churches – survivors of the bombing of the U.S. embassy met with several survivors of the Oklahoma City bombing. The exchange was meant to assist the process of healing for survivors and bereaved family members of the Kenyan bombing. The interaction proved transformative for all. This reflection on that set of meetings in Nairobi describes the nature of the exchanges and some of the reactions of participants.
