At a workshop in Ottawa in May 2000, participants responded to the question, “Can restorative justice mend strained relations?â€? To answer, restorative justice was defined and principles of restorative justice were identified. Participants then discussed when restorative justice is most appropriately applied. Additionally, participants addressed the experience of First Nations with respect to restorative justice, victim-offender meetings, and the role of restorative justice in Canada’s judicial system.
