This publication collects a number of articles written by practitioners and academicians in criminal justice and law. Dealing with various topics, the articles explore the movement from criminal justice – focused on the offender and correctional systems- to community justice. Community justice signifies attention to the community – not the offender-– as the primary focus of efforts to address crime. Efforts are oriented toward reduction and prevention of crime, as far as possible, and repair of the effects of crime when it occurs – all with an emphasis on community capacity and collaboration in addressing crime and restoring those affected by crime. The aims are safe, secure, and just communities. Some of the topics considered in this publication are community policing, corrections and restorative justice, community probation, and community corrections.
