Noting the current frequency of the term “communityâ€? with regard to the criminal justice system, Richardson argues that criminal justice practitioners should seek the participation of the religious community in the criminal justice process. As part of his argument, he reviews the history of the religious community’s involvement in criminal justice. He also discusses the motivation of religious people to be involved in the system and tangible benefits resulting from their involvement. Examples from various organizations and projects buttress his argument.
