Emerging philosophies call for corrections professionals to work in collaboration with victim and community advocates. Restorative justice proponents offer a vision where the focus is on the harm caused by the offense, and on repair of the harm as far as possible, with victim, offender, and community involved in the process. Quinn reviews certain restorative justice programs – such as family group conferences and victim-offender reconciliation programs – and shows the benefits of restorative justice ideas and practices for victims. He also outlines some of the implications for the fields of criminal justice and corrections.
