“The murkiness in the identity of Palestinians and Israelis creates a problem of constant insecurity, mistrust and fear of one another. This sense of insecurity is reflected int he claims and attachment that both groups have to the land of Palestine. The historical roots of the Palestinian presence int he Holy Land challenge the legitimacy of the Israeli claim.” (abstract)
