The Minnesota Department of Corrections has produced a set of practical materials for people training to facilitate restorative group conferences. Lesson 5 deals with the conference step by step. Subjects covered by this lesson include the following: preparation for a restorative conference (making telephone calls, meeting the offender and the victim, tips for dealing with parents); particular problems that may arise; other specific steps in preparing for and conducting a conference (e.g., seating arrangements, preparation checklist, and the facilitator’s script); forms of reparation; facilitator self-assessment; and writing agreements.

This lesson is supplemented by other lessons and related materials, also produced by the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
