The Minnesota Department of Corrections has produced a set of practical materials to guide people who are training others in facilitation of restorative group conferences. Lesson 3 deals with understanding the participants. Subjects covered by this lesson include the following: lesson objectives; identifying stakeholders; understanding the victim; four major impact areas of victimization; needs of the victim; understanding the offender; cognitive behavioral intervention; understanding the community; the role of the community; and key aspects of working with communities.
