The State Bar of Wisconsin established a Commission on Violence and Justice System to identify ways in which violence spends the resources of the justice system and how the courts can cope with issues presented by increased violence. This document represents its final report and recommendations. Topics in the report include the Commission’s research objective, analysis of the impact and costs of violence, specific observations and recommendations, and a discussion of implementation and fiscal impact with respect to the recommendations. The Commission’s recommendations cover these areas: courthouse security; domestic violence; juvenile justice; restorative justice and alternative programs; and weapons.
