In the field of conflict transformation and peacebuilding, increasing attention is being paid to the pursuit of reconciliation. However, Lederach maintains, peacebuilding practitioners are still in an “infancyâ€? stage of understanding this concept. To advance understanding, Lederach proposes five attitudes and character traits needed to foster authentic reconciliation processes. His aim is to describe the role that peacebuilding practitioners can play in such processes.
