On June 27-30, 2000, in Boise, Idaho, the Idaho Supreme Court convened a Summit on Children and Families. The purpose was to identify ways to improve court practices in Idaho for cases involving children and families. In addition to a variety of workshops, roundtable discussions, and opportunities for planning, results of a recent Statewide Court Assessment were presented. This document contains summaries of speeches and presentations by a number of participants dealing with demographic conditions, policy, and legislative aspects of dealing with children and their families, especially when children and youth are at risk of victimization or neglect by their families, or at risk of becoming juvenile offenders. A number of the summaries also describe relevant programs in Idaho for addressing these situations.
