In this piece, Sue Raikes, Chief Executive of the Thames Valley Partnership, introduces Mending Fences, a resource book and report produced by the Partnership for practitioners in the Thames Valley area. The materials are intended to assist practitioners (e.g., in Community Safety partnerships and Anti-Social Behaviour panels) in using conflict resolution and restorative justice for safer, more harmonious communities. Raikes summarizes the purpose and work of the Thames Valley Partnership, explains the genesis of this resource book and the 27 November 2001 conference behind it, and sketches the contents of the book and report.
