The author is Community Conferencing Coordinator for the Community Conferencing Pilot Program at Eastern Mennonite University, and discusses five lessons that the student body and especially the Student Life administration in the first year. The lessons include issues of student development and involvement in the process, the need for flexibility, and implications for the university beyond the conferencing process and beyond the realm of student discipline alone.
