In this report, Silvina Paz outlines the purpose, structure, and work of the Penal Mediation Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In response to legislation, the Center began operating in 1998. A description of the mediation itself covers the professionals who participate in the process, the kinds of crimes dealt with, and how the mediation is initiated and conducted. A section of the report also identifies differences between penal and civil mediation.
