Navajo Peacemaking works on principles of justice that take into account the needs of all involved in a dispute or harm situation. Its methods of conflict resolution seek to get to the core of the “fuzzy‿ thinking that allows people to justify harming another or denying the importance of his or her needs. The peacemaking court’s principles and methods are consistent with justice initiatives that are described as restorative in nature. As such, they offer convincing alternatives to conventional systems of justice based in adjudication.
