Bloom Township, in Cook County (Illinois) and on the south side of Chicago, incorporates twelve communities within its boundaries. For those involved in local government and community affairs in Bloom Township, frustration with available interventions for juvenile offenders led to a search for a new approach. The Neighborhood Restorative Justice Mediation resulted. Grounded in restorative justice ideas and values, it is a therapeutic approach to alternative conflict resolution. This document provides information on the program, its foundations and components, and significant program statistics.
