“New emphasis should be on making up, not breaking up the nation’s people”

In the context of the recent civil war in Sierra Leone, Ganda searches for means to move toward genuine peace among the people of Sierra Leone. He urges a third way which is neither strictly retributive nor blind to the wrongs committed. Basing this on restorative justice, he contends that offenders should be made to give account, but that the principal aim should be to repair the damage done by offenders. The overall aims should be to build peace and harmony among those who have been at war with each other in Sierra Leone.
