Out of sight, out of mind

D'Eusanio, Sharon

Through the victim rights movement, increasing attention has been paid in recent years to seeking justice and providing assistance for victims of crimes. Yet not all victims have been included in this movement. Citing statistics and history, D’Eusanio contends that people with disabilities have been underserved and even unidentified by the criminal justice system, the victims rights movement, and providers of victim services. Her essay includes proposals to remedy this serious oversight.
