“Thus, peace cannot simply be regarded as the prevention of war, but as a creative effort to form the appropriate conditions for the free and multi-faceted development of people. The realization of peace, however, presupposes that people understand their relationships in a peaceful way that promotes coexistence. The sociologist W. Thomas states that when social reality is conceived in a positive way, then it can be realized as such. The philosopher K. Kastoriadis rendered this dimension with the “imaginary institutionalizing” of society: a multi-dimensional situation of peaceful and just relationships combined with democratic governance and the participation and the free development of all human beings who take part in it. Christianity also attributes a special meaning to peace, conceiving it as the realization of loving relationships among people.” (Abstract)
