Continuing his thoughts on humility as a key quality for mediators (see the January 2000 issue of VORP News), Griffith explores ways to mediate with humility. He emphasizes three basic principles: (1) visualize the process; (2) have a clear commitment to being constructive and cooperative; and (3) uphold the ground rules of mediation. Adhering to these principles can make it possible for a person to serve through mediation – that is, to be a facilitator rather than a decision-maker.
