The central subject of this workshop is the position of professionals making referrals to family group conferences. The problem for such professionals in the Netherlands is that they are employees of organizations that expect them to realize and follow the rules and habits of the system. Thus, the professional conforms with the regulations and prescriptions of the organization when making decisions. But FGCs are not troubled by regulations and prescriptions. Families only make plans about their needs. What are the consequences for the professional and in what way can we anticipate problems with their attitude?
