“Research on Family Group Conferences in Child Welfare in New Zealand.”

This article reviews the existing studies of The Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act 1989 in New Zealand. The various contentious issues surrounding the use of care and protection family group conferences are summarized and evaluated in light of the research. Finally the author suggests gaps in our knowledge and offers suggestions for future research focusing on outcome rather then purely process evaluations.
