In this address, Boggs explains her conviction that restorative justice is pivotal to rebuilding communities. Contrasting restorative justice with retributive justice, she identifies restorative justice as a concept of justice rooted in village or pre-modern cultures. In this conception, crime is a violation of people and community relationships. As part of her address, she discusses prisons, economic costs of incarceration, restorative processes, and community-building.
