Jason Kidd states that restorative justice is a criminology paradigm with broad applications in the community and justice contexts. One key practice associated with restorative justice is community conferencing. Conferencing is the primary restorative justice technique used in the Queensland youth justice system. Against this background, Kidd discusses community conferencing as it figures into the Queensland youth justice system. His discussion includes a description of the program, practice models, results, and comparisons with other jurisdictions. Additionally, he points to challenges facing the conferencing program in Queensland and the application of restorative justice to these developments.
